When it comes to fashion, New York City is home to some of the most successful designers in the world, designers whose empires extend to every hemisphere. Having always been fertile soil in nurturing entrepreneurship, the city is also renowned for being an incubator to emerging designers, to the powerful talent of tomorrow. And this season, Ms. Georgine Ratelband- simply known as Georgine- debuted at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week with a collection that proved to be great potential for intriguing seasons to come.
The collection is composed of fitted silhouettes & linear definitions, floral prints & shortened dresses; twenty-eight looks that exuded young adult femininity. A departure from the stereotypical New York City fall abundant of darker colors, Georgine infused hues of pink, light blue & aqua. However, one cannot deny that the use of midnight blue & aubergine were superb choices. Her stingray handbag made discreet appearances several times, paralleling well with the aura of modernity. A particular look of great interest was the aqua lace detailed pants paired with the belted cashmere wool coat (Look 14 below). In all, it’s dominated by cashmere- soft to the touch & desirable.
There are wisps of metropolitan, hints of international. It arouses curiosity. Wearable & salable, the collection is constructed with a strong foundation. There is also talent & dedication; all the elements needed for longevity. | Giuseppe
